Immigration Policies

The immigration policies of Micky Island are very strict. The government does not want a population boom, especially if the country becomes finically successful. The country has a small landmass, and because of this immigrants are restricted. Visitors arriving to the island are given a pass to live in any hotel or even apartment that they want. This pass expires after 30 days. After the 30 days are up, the visitor can be tried at their expense, and put into jail. To apply for citizenship, you have to go through the application process.

The application process goes as follows:

1. You must be of 18 years or older, or be accompanied by two adults (parents) 18 years or older.
2. You must have a job already in place before gaining any citizenship. This means having some sort of plan as to what your job will be (for example, a teaching job is open and you are planning on applying for it).
3. You must have no criminal record in any country, including Micky Island. If you were tried and found guilty of staying past your 30 days, this is recorded as a criminal record. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis, through the court system, and the individual’s expense.
4. You must be currently obeying all of the laws of Micky Island, no matter what the laws were from where you came from (owning guns, smoking, ect.).
If all of the above criteria are met, then a person can become a citizen after going through a public assembly that is performed once a year. Until that date, the person can live in the country without citizenship, working and living according to the law (they will receive an extended pass that expires the day after the public assembly). Any citizen that becomes a citizen in this way can vote, but cannot hold a government position. Their children are automatically full citizens of Micky Island.

Exceptions to the above:

1. Any child born to a citizen, even offshore, is automatically a citizen of Micky Island. This child can also hold a government position, if they wish.

2. Any adopted child is granted citizenship, assuming that the parents are citizens of Micky Island.
